What is the Air Suspension Air Compressor all about?

A device that compresses and pressurizes air. Used to inflate air springs.

An Air Suspension Compressor also called Air Compressor or Air Pump, inflates or deflates air spring bags as necessary. When a vehicle with air suspension drops below the factory-defined height, the air suspension compressor, also simply called an air compressor or air pump is activated and inflates the air bags or air struts.

    Air Suspension Air Compressor Function

An air compressor is a machine that uses an electric motor or gas engine to power a device that sucks in successive volumes of air from the atmosphere, compresses (squeezes) each volume of air in a confined place to increase its pressure by making the volume smaller, and then transfers the high-pressure air to a receiver tank, The high-pressure air is drawn off from the receiver tank to power equipment.

    Air Suspension Air Compressor Work

Air compressors work by forcing air into a container and pressurizing it. Then, the air is forced through an opening in the tank, where pressure builds up. Think of it like an open balloon: the compressed air can be used as energy as it’s released.

They’re powered by an engine that turns electrical energy into kinetic energy. It’s similar to how a combustion engine works, using a crankshaft, piston, valve, head and a connecting rod.

From there, the pressurized air can be used to power a variety of tools.

Air compressors can be grouped into three classifications: consumer-grade, professional-grade and industrial-grade.

    Air Compressor Use For

1.Consumer-grade air compressors can be described as a pancake or single-stage model. They’re used for household tasks like inflating tires and inflatable products and possibly some low-load air tools like staplers and brad guns.
2.Professional-grade air compressors provide more power and higher pressurized air. They could be two-stage reciprocating models or rotary screw models and can provide more power to run several air tools at once with intermittent use.
3.Industrial-grade air compressors will be the workhorse of a manufacturing plant or the reliable power source on an oil rig. They are designed to provide a steady flow of compressed air for long periods of time and can take fluctuating surges in use typical in major manufacturing plants. These compressors are built with high-quality components that allow for customization to the specific environment to improve performance, energy efficiency and reliability.

    Air spring

Air springs contain a column of air in an elastomeric bellow or sleeve to provide suspension, isolation, or actuation. Commonly found in vehicle suspension systems, occasionally in conjunction with a coil spring, they are also used to insulate vibration in machinery and as linear or angular actuators
Air springs are employed through the use of an air compressor which fills and empties the pliable air bladder. The load is not distributed to the rubber liner, which only serves to contain the gas; the weight is attached to a piston or bead plate, which is directly supported by the air with very little deflection. A self-leveling mechanism is common to keep the air spring's load stable, and occasionally a separate coil spring is incorporated into the design. Also available are electronic air spring systems that can monitor air pressure, filter compressor air (preventing damage to the rubber bellows), and a lock to keep air inside of the spring in case of compressor or air line failure.
Air springs are most common in vehicle suspensions, but can also be used to keep vibrating/rotating machinery from affecting other components. Occasionally used as actuators, air springs can provide linear and angular translation.

    Air spring Advantage

    1. More driver comfort due to the reduction in noise, harshness, and vibration on the road that can cause driver discomfort and fatigue
    2. Less wear and tear on the suspension system due to reduced harshness and vibration of heavy-duty driving
    3. Trailers last longer with air suspension spring because the system components don't take on as much vibration
    4. Air suspension spring reduces the tendency of short wheelbase trucks to bounce over rougher roads and terrain when the vehicle is empty
    5. Air suspension spring improves the ride height based on the load weight and a vehicle's speed
    6. Higher corner speeds due to air suspension spring being better suited to the surface of the road

What are some common problems with Air Suspension?

The most common problem with air suspension parts are air leaks. Since an air suspension system uses air throughout the system to maintain the ride height and ride quality, if there is a leak in the air spring or air suspension compressor then your vehicle will sag. Common symptoms of an air leak include excessive wheel play and excessive swaying of the vehicle of the body.

If you are experiencing this problem we recommend seeing a professional for an evaluation of your air suspension system.

Here at Honggu Company we are proud to Provide Air Suspension parts.
Honggu, an air suspension company based in Guangdong, was the first in the industry to begin rebuilding and manufacturing parts for the aftermarket to meet the needs of consumers looking for an affordable replacement of their air suspension parts, sparing them from dealership prices.

    Installation:

    1. Remove the Front Driver Side tire

    2. Remove the Driver Side Wheel Fender Liner

    3. Remove the Hardware holding the old compressor

    4. Disconnect the Rubber Air Intake Line

    5. Disconnect the Air Line

    6. Disconnect the Electrical Cables

    7. Remove the old compressor

    8. Use the Old Rubber Bushings to the new compressor

    9. Install the new compressor
